Botswana venue for international technology experts’ meeting

The Botswana Government, through the Ministry of Transport and Communications, will host the Regional Information Society Technologies in Africa conference (IST-Africa 2018) in Gaborone from May 9-11.
Information from the  Transport Ministry states that each year, the conference brings together over 300 senior representatives from leading public, private, education and research and societal organisations around the world to identify opportunities for research and innovation collaboration within Africa and between Europe and Africa under Horizon 2020, adaptation and exploitation of research results.
Information available further states that the conference aims to bridge the digital divide by sharing knowledge, experience, lessons learnt and good practices.
IST-Africa and IST-Africa Week 2018 directly supports innovation, Science and Technology aspects of the Africa-EU Strategic Partnership and the Science, Technology and Innovation Strategy for Africa (STISA-2024), states the release further saying the conference is the 13th in a series of annual technology research and innovation conferences hosted by African governments.
The conference will provide a world class international forum to showcase existing Research, Innovation and ICT4D activities and capacity in Botswana, the rest of Africa and Europe. 
The weeklong meeting is organised by International Information Management Corporation (IIMC) and is supported by the European Commission and African Union Commission.
