Chanel’s Absurdly-Priced Plastic Rain Hat Will Leave Your Head And Wallet Dry

Is life in plastic truly as fantastic as fashion portrays it to be? Following Céline’s remake of supermarket shopping bags, Chanel is cashing in on the plastic everyday item trend with new headgear that will shield you from bad weather and good wealth.

The luxury house sent supermodel Kaia Gerber down the Spring/Summer 2018 runway last October with a clear bucket hat, among other plastic-made apparel. While it might appear avant-garde on the up-and-comer, any regular person might agree that it would likely have them looking like ‘Paddington Bear’ on a bad fur day—after a passing taxi has steered muddy water along their way.

If you’re keen on completing your high-end plastic collection, Chanel has thankfully made the ‘PVC & Grosgrain’ transparent hat available for all who can afford its “suggested retail” price of US$1,150.

If anything, purchasing the hat might make you more clearheaded down the road when you finally feel that tinge of buyer’s remorse.
