The term “User Experience” was first coined by Don Norman, to describe the importance of user-centered design. This concept outlines the fact that design decisions should be solely based on the needs of the users.
UX Design involves the analytical and technical aspect of a mobile app development process. It is the process of enhancing a user’s satisfaction with a product in terms of its usability, accessibility, and experience.
The counterparts of UX developers are the UI designers, and any project involves both sets of people. UI designers are generally graphic designers, who design the user interface, which ultimately gives the user the look and feel of an app.

The mobile UX experience encompasses the user’s perceptions and feelings when he interacts with a mobile app. Indirectly it says a lot about how the user feels about the company’s products or services.

Why is UX Design Important?
As UX is all about the user’s interaction with the mobile app, a lot of emotions are involved in it. A user will be keener to use an app if it provides him value and is easy to use. For an app to be successful in the long run, it should be easy to navigate between different app interfaces. The UX ultimately determines if there will be a repeat user or a one time user, who will abandon the app after using it once.
This is the reason companies invest a lot of money in UX aspect of app design.
Companies are always on the lookout for great graphic designers. And of course, developers who can translate the design into a great utility app for the user.
Steps in UX Design
Before the launch of a product in the market, a business should do a thorough research. This will give the business, inputs about what sort of products the client needs and in what way.
The final UX design should have the best inputs from the market research conducted.
The inputs received from the market research is used to create user personas which in turn helps in building a prototype of the app. An app prototype development involves coordination between the UI and UX Designers in the project team.
3. App testing
Testing is the final phase of app designing. A good UI doesn’t always translate into good user experience.
Apps generally go through beta testing before the final release. Sometimes UX designers release the app to an app testing community before releasing the beta version to the public.
This is done by UX designers to get feedback from the independent testers, based on which they modify the UX many a time. This prevents them to redevelop the app from scratch if something goes wrong in the future. Rebuilding an app from scratch is a waste of time and money.
UX should be complementary to UI
The best apps are the ones which are easy to navigate from one interface to another.
The UI is the first point of contact which will attract a user to find out more about what lies inside the app.
Next is the work of UX to keep the users logged on for a long time and make them keep using the app in the future. If users are satisfied with the in-app navigation, layout, structure, and content of the app, they will keep doing repeat visits to the app. They will also share their experience with their friends, both online and offline.
Thus, the success of an app depends on how the developers keep the UI/UX design-balance in mind.
Though we perceive UI and UX as two different things, they are basically two sides of the same coin. While working on the UI, the designers should keep a tab on what problems can be encountered in UX and vice versa.
We can take an example of WhatsApp here. It’s a user-friendly app, quite easy to handle and not at all complicated.
What makes for good UX Design?
Just because some complex technology is introduced in a product or mobile app, doesn’t mean it will be a hit among users.
Google Glass is an example of this. While it has been built around great technology, it was too complex for most people to use.

The general trend today is all about personalization and customization. How a particular product is built around keeping a customer’s preferences in mind, is ultimately what matters to the customer.
3.Less Is More
While as an app developer, you may be tempted to include more cool features and functionalities in your app, to the people in general, it can be a huge turn-off. It’s a proven fact that offering too many choices leads to fewer sales, and this holds true for websites, apps, and others.
So, the idea should be to consolidate as much as possible; to make navigation simple.

Color has a major effect on our psyche and so a good UX design is dependent on choosing a good color scheme to a great extent. Take examples of the colors red and green. These are known as colors that rank high for conversions when used in call-to-action (CTA) buttons.
Last but not the least, as a final strategy, UX analytic tools must be used to monitor the response of UX from day one. The data, in turn, will help developers understand the pain areas and lead to better UX optimization.
