Canonical announced the final beta release of Ubuntu 17.04 Zesty Zapus. Apart from the flagship Unity edition, Kubuntu, Lubuntu, Ubuntu GNOME, Ubuntu Kylin, Ubuntu MATE, Ubuntu Studio and Xubuntu flavors. It comes with updated versions of most packages and Linux kernel 4.10.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.9

Release Date: March 21, 2017

Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6.9 was released as the last point release of RHEL 6. RHEL 6.9 updates the TSL 1.2 protocol for strengthening communication security. It’s now compatible with modern apps designed for the cloud. The updated image also makes it easier for the users to shift their RHEL 6 workloads into container-based applications.

Chakra GNU/Linux 2017.03

Release Date: March 14, 2017

The first Chakra release of 2017 was codenamed Goedel after the mathematician and philosopher Kurt Goedel. Chakra GNU/Linux 2017.03 was released with two noteworthy changes. The installer, Calamares, was updated to version 3.0.1.91 and the homegrown Heritage theme for Plasma got a refreshing facelift.

Tails 2.11

Release Date: March 7, 2017

Tails 2.11 release came as the last version to included the alternative anonymizing network I2P. This step was taken due to the lack of developers who could maintain I2P. The latest release of this anonymity-focused Linux distro features the Tor Browser 6.5.1, number of bug fixes, and security fixes.

Manjaro Linux 17.0

Manjaro Fringilla was followed by the release of Manjaro 17.0 Gellivara. Available in Xfce and KDE desktop environments, Manjaro 17.0 came with Linux kernel 4.9 LTS, Xorg v1.19, and various updates. PCLinuxOS 2017.03

The KDE Plasma 5 ISO images of popular Linux-based operating system PCLinuxOS were updated. In new images included all the recent updates and bug fixes. It came with Linux kernel 4.9.13, KDE Plasma 5.8.6 LTS, KDE Frameworks 5.31.0, and KDE Applications 16.12.2.

BlackArch Linux 2017.03.01

The popular ethical hacking operating system BlackArch Linux witnessed its latest release. BlackArch Linux 2017.03.01 came loaded with more than 1700 penetration testing and forensic analysis tools. This release added 50 new tools, updated BlackArch installer, several fixes, Linux kernel 4.9.11, etc.

Zorin OS 12.1

Linux From Scratch 8.0

Release Date: Feb 26, 2017

The Linux From Scratch community announced the release of Linux From Scratch (LFS) and Beyond Linux From Scratch (BLFS) 8.0. The team called it a major upgrade to this DIY Linux distro. The LFS release brought updates to glibc 2.24, Binutils 2.27, and GCC 6.2.0. Overall, in LFS release, 29 packages witnessed updates. In BLFS version, about 775 updates were made.

Rebellin Linux 3.5

Rebellin Linux 3.5 was released with a choice of two desktop environments GNOME and MATE. This latest Linux distro release was based on the Debian Sid and its developers called it the “e best Debian Sid-based distribution you can get.” The GNOME Shell was upgraded to 3.22.2, MATE to 1.16.1, kernel to 4.8-liquorix.

NethServer 7.3

NethServer developers have announced the release of NethServer 7.3. It’s a CentOS-based Linux distro that’s designed for servers. It’s now able to act as a Samba Active Directory Controller that can replace a Microsoft Active Directory Domain Controller.

Bodhi Linux 4.1.0

Scientific Linux 7.3

Based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Scientific Linux 7.3 was released. This release ditches the 4.7GB install disk of Scientific Linux 7 and retains the dual-layer install media. OpenAFS has been updated to version 1.6.20. There’s also a new Scientific Linux End User License Agreement (EULA).

Tails 2.10

The new version of The Amnesic Incognito Live System (Tails), i.e., Tails 2.10, was released with Tor 0.2.9.9 and Tor Browser 6.5. Tails 2.10 also comes with with OnionShare file sharing utility. The Linux kernel shipping with this release of privacy-focused Linux distribution is kernel 4.8.

AryaLinux 2017

AryaLinux 2017 was released only in 64-bit format and there’s no 32-bit ISO available for download. This release comes with Linux kernel 4.9 and MATE desktop environment 1.17. The other major applications and packages have also been updated.

Ultimate Edition 5.1

Ultimate Edition 5.1 is based on Ubuntu 16.04 Xenial Xerus. It comes loaded with KDE Plasma desktop environment. It also features Tmosb is also included in this release. It’s an LTS release that’ll remain supported until 2019. The Linux Kernel is shipping with this release is 4.4.0-30-generic.

Linux Kodachi 3.5

Linux Kodachi 3.5, the latest version of the privacy-focused Linux distribution, was released. This release was based on Debian 8.6 Xfce. Parrot Security OS 3.3

Frozenbox Network has unveiled a minor release in the form of Parrot Security 3.3, which is supposed to be “a working snapshot of the bigger work.” This ethical hacking Linux distro is based on Debian GNU/Linux 9 Stretch and Linux kernel 4.8. It also makes a switch to PHP 7 and GCC 6.2.

Alpine Linux 3.5.0

The Alpine Linux project has released Alpine Linux 3.5.0. This embedded systems and security-focused release switches from OpenSSL to LibreSSL. Now ZFS file system is supported as the root file system. This release also features updated xorg-server 1.18.4 and LibreOffice 5.2.3.3.

BlackArch Linux 2016.12.20

4MLinux 20.1

As a minor maintenance release, 4MLinux released with Linux kernel 4.4.24. It restored the previously “disappeared” PAE support.
